Hello,
I think that Mr Hodges assigned us this reading for some specific purposes. First of all, we have to know we are now in the same situation that Dr Lupe was. Forcing ourselves to understand, speak, and study in another language that is not the one which we grew up with. So all of us should take a good example on Lupe. Perseverance and determination must be our daily breakfast. Our parents who sent us here to study are waiting for someome with special skills and speaking other language. So, for myself and all of the writing 5, let's be smart in order to overcome the challenge that we are facing. thanks.

Hello,
I am agree with you that Mr Hodges assigned us this reading for some specific purposes but i am totally disagree with your next statement that is, we are now same situation that Dr.Lupe was.So far I think we are not same situation as Dr.Lupe because she could not get any chance to learn English that we have got and still we are getting. This is true English is our second langusge but we are getting chance to improve our second language. As far I know now most of the country teach English in their school and more or less we have got that already. If she had given IQ test Spanish instead of English she could have better in her IQ test. Thanks.

Hi salena,
There is something that you've forgotten, If she was able to take the IQ test despite the fact that she didn't speak english, it means that she knew some english. I agree that we have chance to improve our english, but how about taking academic classes in english with all the other native english speakers and compete with them? It's a challenge. Thank you for your reaction. think about this and give me an answer. Take care.
